New Paintings, July/August 2014

A new painting from July and early August 2014. Initially inspired by my dislike for Monet’s water lilies. I wanted to paint similar subjects in a way Monet would have never done.

Water Lilies #3, 2014, 36” x 48"’, acrylic on canvas. The right section represents the lilies reduced to simple lines of color. I used a variety of opaque acrylic and translucent iridescent paints to give it a shimmering quality. ©2014 Kenneth E. Hayden, Louisville, KY USA All Rights Reserved.
